Take a piece of the heartland home with you!
Heartland Gifts, the souvenir shop in Heartland Museum, holds a large
assortment of gift items to remind you of your visit to the home of
tractors, hats and bears. The shop opened in June 2002 and has steadily
increased its inventory to please visitors to the museum.
Teddy bears, hat ornaments, Iowa Hat Lady videos,
postcards, knife sets, bottles of Iowa-made Sorghum syrup, Boyd’s plush
bears, magnets, toy farm equipment, glassware hand-painted by local
artist Sally Boyington, Alvina’s Hat Parlor t-shirts, museum
sweatshirts, cookbooks by local caterer Kathy Deimerly, art prints,
children’s books, etc. The store has many items that tie closely to
displays inside the museum.
A popular item in the store is the Rupert bear,
designed by Clarion artist Steve Schutt, for the Boyd’s Bear company.
Clarion has hosted the annual Celebration of Boyd’s Festival since 2000
and has limited edition bears for years 2001-2004. Green-sweatered
Bradie B. Bearsley represents 2001, red-sweatered Thurston is the bear
for 2002 and the red, white and blue Americus bear was issued in 2003.
The 2004 bear is the Well-Read Bear, designed by Schutt. All four are
available in the gift shop.
Also for sale in the gift shop is a matched pair of
figurines from the 1995 and 2000 Teddy Bear Reunion in the Heartland
events. The pair includes the Bailey the Baker…Sweetie Pie figurine from
1995 and the Grant & Clari…Home in the Heartland figurine from 2000.
They are selling for $120 a set, plus $10 shipping and handling.
